Angela Lago | Wearable Art

Contemporary jewellery artist rooted in the Atlantic and based in Madrid.
Angela Lago’s work is shaped by time, memory and a lifelong relationship with the sea.
Born in Vigo and now working from her private atelier in Madrid, she approaches material as a form of inquiry. The maritime world operates in her work as structure rather than motif — built from the sea’s internal logic rather than its surface image.

Each piece is conceived and made entirely by the artist using traditional, demanding techniques. The process is deliberately slow, physical and direct.
Weight and openness, depth and light coexist within forms that retain the trace of the hand.
One-of-a-kind and made-to-measure work lies at the heart of Angela Lago’s practice.
A unique piece is never reproduced exactly, but it can become the starting point for another — created specifically for its wearer, in their measurements and choice of materials.
For Angela, the process matters as much as the finished piece. Working directly with the person who will wear it creates a connection that begins during its making and becomes part of its story.
Small series are also made individually by hand. No two pieces are identical.
Her work is presented in Spain and the United States, as well as through selected galleries across Europe.
She has exhibited at Munich Jewellery Week and has been selected to take part in the Lisbon Jewellery Biennial and in a travelling exhibition curated by Luis Acosta, to be presented in major European cities.
