Based in Madrid, Angela Lago is an independent artist creating sculptural jewellery by hand. Her work is shaped by instinct, material and a life marked by the Atlantic.
She grew up by the Galician coast and began sailing at the age of six. Cousteau was an early reference, as were the navigators she admired for their discipline, their drive to explore, their appetite for freedom and the way they faced life. The sea shaped her way of seeing the world.
Her path moved through law, photography and curating before jewellery became her medium — not as ornament, but as a way of knowing through making.
When her son was born, the desire to lead by example gave her the courage to follow her own path.
Her work begins with something that is already there — an emotion, a memory, an intuition — before it has a form. Through making, she brings it into the physical world.
The sea provides a language for that process. Not as imagery, but as structure — a language of her own.
Each piece is conceived as a form in its own right. On the body, scale, weight, movement and light become part of the work. It is meant to be lived with, not simply worn.
She makes each piece by hand in her Madrid studio, one by one, until it resolves. One-of-a-kind and made-to-measure pieces are at the heart of her work. Alongside them, she creates small series, never exactly identical.
Her work does not follow trends. It requires her to listen, to connect and to give it time — and she allows it.

She has exhibited at Munich Jewellery Week and has been selected to take part in the Lisbon Jewellery Biennial and in a travelling exhibition curated by Luis Acosta, to be presented in major European cities.
Angela Lago’s work has been featured in Forbes Spain (Nautik Magazine), The Islander, and publications such as Faro de Vigo, La Voz de Galicia, El Español, The Luxonomist, and Libertad Digital.
She is a member of Art Jewelry Forum and Precious Collective, international platforms supporting contemporary jewelry artists.
